GREEN WISE^CM Testing Criteria

Products that bear the GREEN WISE^CM certification mark have been tested and certified against 6 environmentally determined standards by Coatings Research Group, Inc. (CRGI). These standards have been chosen because they correlate with the green characteristics of paint.

All McCormick products bearing the GREEN WISE^CM certification mark meet or exceed the VOC requirements of LEED^® for most paint and coatings applications. GREEN WISE^CM certified products do not contain certain chemicals which have been determined to be harmful to humans or our environment.

Interior Standards
	VOC levels (Volatile Organic Compounds)		Paints with low or no VOCs reduce human exposure to chemicals that may cause adverse health effects
	Contrast Ratio (Opacity)		Better paint opacity means less coats needed, and less VOC exposure
	Y-Reflectance		Ensures that opacity measurements are tested at the same brightness levels (control measure)
	Washability		Paint film must be washable with green cleaners - cleaners without ammonia or harsh chemicals
	Odor		Low odor paints offer human benefits that may include reduction of eye, nose, and throat irritations
	Prohibited Compounds		Paints will not contain known harmful chemicals as listed by CRGI
